What Is DND on Fitbit?

What Is DND on Fitbit?

Fitbit has been one of the many reputable and widely accepted brands in the market, making smartwatches for several decades. Like other brands, this one also enriches all its smartwatches with some user-friendly and advanced features like health and sleeping trackers to prevent you from getting sick.

These smartwatches are also ideal for keeping check of your daily tasks, settings alarms, and managing your day-to-day efficiently. You even get a built-in voice assistant on some of the smartwatches.

The best part is that almost all these watches can successfully sync with smartphones allowing you to take or reject calls, reply to messages and receive notifications of all your social or work-related apps.

But sometimes, too many notifications can get frustrating, especially for workers who want to concentrate on their tasks. That’s where the DND mode on the Fitbit smartwatches comes in handy. As the name suggests, the DND mode stands for Do Not Disturb Mode and has all the features allowing you to focus solely on your vital tasks.

What does the DND mode do on Fitbit?

As I mentioned, DND stands for Do Not Disturb and is a feature or mode found in almost all Fitbit smartwatches. You can also find this mode on your smartphones, tablets, PCs, and other gadgets. It is, in fact, a common feature that is especially seen in all the devices of your daily use and comes in handy in all operating systems.

With the DND mode enabled on your Fitbit smartwatch, all the notifications, including phone calls, app previews, and goals from step goals to hydration reminders, are silent.

There are rarely any disadvantages of this mode as you can even set exceptions for some apps and features. This allows you not to miss out on important updates even in the Do Not Disturb mode.

Is it worth enabling DND on Fitbit or Keeping it Off Matters?

Most Fitbit smartwatch users have multiple concerns regarding the DND mode. They often seem confused about whether to keep the DND mode enabled on their smartwatch or whether it is best to turn it off. Like all other features and methods on tech gadgets, this one also depends on certain circumstances and conditions.

For instance, if you don’t mind receiving notifications from all the different apps on your smartwatch all the time, you don’t need to switch to the DND mode. Most users get a smartwatch just because they want to keep themselves informed of all the emails, messages, and calls they are getting.

But the DND mode makes a lot of sense for users who don’t want to receive recurring notifications, especially when they are in the middle of a vital task. When the DND mode is enabled on your smartwatch, it won’t stop syncing with the phone and getting informed of all the activities.

But the Fitbit band won’t light up, saving its battery and preventing you from connecting it to the charger too often.

Enabling DND on Fitbit

It’s not complex to enable DND on your Fitbit smartwatch. The whole process is pretty straightforward. You just need to swipe left or down on the Fitbit smartwatch’s screen. You will see the DND icon on the menu.

Tap the icon that will look like a small chat bubble carrying a minus sign in the center. You need to tap the icon, and the DND mode will be turned on your Fitbit smartwatch.

If you don’t want to silence the notifications for all the apps and features, you can choose the ones you want to disable by following the steps below.

  1. Install and open the Fitbit app on your smartphone; Android and iPhone can work.
  1. On the app, go to the Today dashboard and select your Profile icon at the top.
  2. Tap the option matching your Fitbit smartwatch model and choose Notifications.
  3. From all the apps available on the screen, pick and choose the ones you don’t mind silencing the notifications for.
  4. Tap the toggle for all the selected apps, and the DND mode will be enabled for those apps on your Fitbit smartwatch.
How is the DND mode different from the Sleep Mode?

If we don’t go in-depth, the main function of the DND mode and the Sleep mode is pretty much the same, i.e., silencing the notifications for different apps, reminders, alarms, and goals. They also prevent the screen from waking up and stop the watch from vibrating when an alert is received.

But if I talk about the main difference between both modes, it will be a more advanced approach in the Sleep mode. Sleep mode on your Fitbit smartwatch will turn down the screen’s brightness when enabled.

Also, the always-on-display feature usually presented in advanced watches that can do well without chargers is also disabled. Your Fitbit smartwatch’s screen won’t wake up even after receiving a notification or alert. You can schedule a timer for the sleep mode to turn on and back off on its own.

Remember here that the DND and Sleep mode cannot be turned on simultaneously on your Fitbit band. Also, the good news is that none of these affect your Fitbit wristband’s health and fitness tracking options.
