How To Fix a Smartwatch That Won't Turn On

Smartwatches have entered the tech industry with a boom; with new companies emerging and familiar manufacturers investing in smartwatches, they have evolved immensely.

However, like every other device, smartwatches also have their fair share of problems. It is infuriating when you find out that the Smartwatch on your wrist wouldn’t turn on after you spent gazillion bucks for it.

Don’t worry, as I have got you covered it’s nothing to worry about as it is reasonably easy to fix.

To fix your Smartwatch, you must first identify the reason for it not turning on. In the following article, you will find answers to all your questions as it goes in-depth on what causes this issue and how to fix it.

Why won’t my smart watch turn on or charge?

I know it’s heartbreaking to see your beloved Smartwatch lying in the corner, completely lifeless. Don’t panic just yet because if your Smartwatch suddenly stops working see that you can not fix it until you do not know what the problem is. Here are a few possible reasons why your Smartwatch is not turning on:

Problem with the battery/charger:

The most probable reason for your Smartwatch not turning on is that your Smartwatch’s battery is all used up!

Every Smartwatch comes with a battery that can last a long time. So, you first need to ensure that your Smartwatch’s battery is not 0%. Your battery could also become faulty if you have not used your Smartwatch for an extended period.

A faulty charger or charging port can also cause your Smartwatch not to turn on. The charger of the Smartwatch can get damaged as the wires inside the charger are pretty sensitive and can get twisted.

While you are checking the charger, make sure to check the adapter and charging port. The charging port inside the Smartwatch can also be faulty, as dirt can get stuck inside.

Damaged Display

Another reason for your Smartwatch not turning on is a damaged display. A smartwatch’s display is small and can easily get damaged. If your device has fallen, you may see some cracks on the screen, indicating that the display has been damaged and needs to be replaced. Other than that, if the watch comes in contact with water while not being water resistant, the display’s probability of damage increases.

Faulty Operating system:

The operating system of a watch may need update. Otherwise, it will crash from time to time. Every Smartwatch has an operating system installed with which it runs the device. If the operating system glitches or is not compatible with the watch, it may cause your watch not to turn on.

Here are a few Steps on how to fix your Smartwatch that won’t turn on:

Now that you have identified the problem know that although it can be very difficult and annoying to face them there is nothing that can be fixed. In the following section, I have explained how to improve your Smartwatch when it won’t turn on.

  1. Check its Charging:

Your Smartwatch might have run out of battery, which is one reason why it won’t turn on. Just grab your charger and plug it into your watch to get rid of this problem. Now, wait for at least 10-15 minutes before turning it on. If it still doesn’t turn on, the charger or the charging port might be faulty. You may need to use another charger and connect it to the Smartwatch.

Also changing the power outlet might help as it can be damaged. If this doesn’t work, grab a toothpick and clean the charging port of your Smartwatch because there might be some dirt stuck inside, causing the Smartwatch not to charge. Make sure you don’t clean it too vigorously, as it can damage the charging port itself.

  1. Replace the Battery:

Sometimes the battery inside the Smartwatch can stop working and cause problems like it not turning on. You can easily solve this problem by replacing the battery.

Now there are two ways you can do that. One way is by giving it out to a repair shop professional or doing it yourself. If you want to do it yourself, then follow these steps.

  • First, find the battery model you want to replace. Different smartwatches come with different battery models. To look for the model used in your Smartwatch, search it up online or use the box of the watch. You will have to spend some money to get a new one once you have the new battery; follow the next steps.

  • Remove the bands of the Smartwatch next. To do that, find the clasp which connects the bands to the Smartwatch and remove them. Do it carefully, as they might be tight and can cause damage to the clasps if you apply too much pressure.

  • Once the bands are off, you must remove the watch’s battery cover. The battery cover is found beneath the watch. Then use a tool such as a mini screwdriver to open the battery cover. After that, take out the old battery and carefully replace it with the new one.

  • Now you need to put your Smartwatch to charge for at least 15 minutes. After that, turn on the Smartwatch by holding the power button for 15 seconds.

By following the steps above your Smartwatch will turn on, and you can use it without worry.
